Ottignies Louvain la Neuve
9.00am-Noon : Meet at the « Office du Tourisme-Inforville », discovery of the 3 dimensional map and the ongoing exhibition. Then visit Louvain-la-Neuve via the QR code tour.
The Tourism Board « Office du Tourisme Inforville » welcomes you and provides all necessary information for your stay, whether it be for a map of the town or a good address. It’s also an occasion to admire the temporary exhibition in the Forum des Halles. You can also rent a tablet which allows you to follow the QR Code discovery tour through the University town and its points of interest.
Noon-1.00pm : Lunch in one of the numerous restaurants or snacks of Louvain-la-Neuve.
At lunchtime, the streets of Louvain-la-Neuve offer a large choice of eating places, for every taste buds and budget. Just wander around a bit and find an enticing menu and a table on one of the numerous terraces.
1.15pm-3.15pm : Visit of Hergé Museum or Musée L
Louvain-la-Neuve also has two museums : the Hergé Museum and the Musée L (as of February 2017). The Hergé Museum allows you to discover the multifaceted creator of Tintin. The Musée L, on the other hand reveals the artworks and science collections owned by the University.
3.30pm-5.30pm : Walk or jogging in the Wood of Lauzelle.
Aside its urban center, Louvain-la-Neuve has a well-preserved natural landscape, such as the Wood of Lauzelle, classified for its remarkable biological diversity. The suggested itineraries are enhanced by educational panels that allows you to discover each aspect of the wood be it its fauna and flora or its scientific use.
5.30pm-9.30pm : Shopping at the mall « L’Esplanade » or a film. Afterwards a meal in a restaurant in the center of LLN, or at the restaurant of the Château de Limelette hotel.
After a day full of discovery, why not linger a little in the center of Louvain-la-Neuve and enjoy the shops, the shopping mall, the cinema, or just simply one of its numerous lively pubs ?
10.00pm or later : Night at the hotel Château de Limelette.
10.00am-Noon : rental of a bicycle in Ottignies to visit the entities and their sights.
The city of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve presents a rural landscape inviting one for walks. The best way to explore the countryside is to rent a bicycle at Pro Vélo, next to the train station of Ottignies. Thanks to its numerous cycling facilities, all the villages as well as sightseeing, places of interest and monuments; such as classified churches, remarkable farms, the ponds in the area of the Buston, the Moriensart Tower, are at a stone’s throw away.
Noon-1.00pm : Lunch at the restaurant « la Maison Communale » or at Château de Limelette.
Cycling makes one hungry. What would be nicer than being on the terrace of this old Town Hall that overlooks the majestic square surrounded with classified trees ?
1.30pm-3.00pm : Relax in the Spa of the Château de Limelette or in the “Bois des Rêves”.
Return to the Château de Limelette for a rest after so much exercise! You can enjoy a relaxing moment in the balneotherapy center and let experienced hands take care of you. Unless you still feel energetic enough to discover the Bois des Rêves, with its footpaths, fitness trail, fishing pond and outside pool.
3.30pm-5.30 : Golf or Disc-Golf.
For open air enthusiasts, the golf club of Louvain-la-Neuve offers a fair site. But if you are looking for originality, go to the green areas of Louvain-la-Neuve and try the disc-golf course. It is played with throwing discs that are available for loan at the Office du Tourisme-Inforville.
6.00pm-9.00pm : Return the bikes to Ottignies. Meal in a restaurant in the center of Ottignies then an evening at the Cultural Center if there is a show on.
All good things come to an end. It’s time to take the bicycle back to Ottignies. Fortunately, the city center allows one to spend a pleasant evening be it in a restaurant, or by attending one of the many shows offered by the Cultural Center.
