Monte Isola or “ Mountain Island” rises from the waters of Lake Iseo. Visitors arriving on Monte Isola are immediately impressed with the tranquility and old worldliness of the island . The old style fishing boats , the narrow streets , and the feeling that time is of no importance , all contribute to the appeal.
For those who are more energetic, there are ample opportunities for long walks or even bike rides along the shore or
up to its peak. The roads are quiet and uncluttered as cars are not permitted and the only interruption is the occasional buzz of a motor scooter used by locals as a means of transport. In addition there is an excellent mini-bus service connecting the main villages and a local taxi.
